Itinerary


Day 1, Mon., Sept. 13 – Abilene, TXEarly morning departure, I-10 to Lafayette, I- 49 to Shreveport, I-20 west. Overnight in Abilene.

Day 2, Tues., Sept. 14 – Las Cruces, N.M. – Mid day visit to Carlsbad Caverns, through El Paso and overnight in Las Cruces.

Day 3, Wed., Sept 15 – Tucson, AZ – Through Douglas, AZ.  Visit Bisbee, Tombstone and Tucson in Arizona.

Day 4, Thur., Sept 16- San Diego, CA – Phoenix sightseeing. Through Yuma to San Diego for 2 nights, a wonderful city.

Day 5, Fri., Sept. 17 –San Diego - Visit “Old Town” Historic District.  Guided driving city tour and a narrated harbor cruise, seeing the US Navy fleet.

Day 6, Sat., Sept. 18 – Santa Maria, Ca – Morning drive to Los Angeles for guided tour of Hollywood, Sunset Blvd., Mann’s Chinese Theatre and more.  

Day 7, Sun., Sept. 19 – Salinas, CA – Up the beautiful coast to fabulous Hearst Castle for an inside tour.  Hug the coast along spectacular Big Sur.  Visit Carmel, Pebble Beach, and Monterey.

Day 8, Mon., Sept. 20 – San Francisco – In San Jose visit Winchester Mystery House.  Two nights in San Francisco, right on Fisherman’s Wharf, the center of activity.

Day 9, Tues., Sept. 21 – San Francisco – Morning tour of Alcatraz Island, San Francisco’s #1 sightseeing attraction.  Great views of Golden Gate Bridge.  Afternoon guided tour of city highlights with Chinatown.

ed., Sept. 22 – Napa Valley – Morning drive across Golden Gate Bridge.  Visit Napa Valley and wine area. Visit a winery.

Day 11, Thur., Sept. 23 – Fresno, CA - Yosemite – Through the rich San Joaquin Valley to wonderful Yosemite National Park.  See Yosemite Falls, Bridalveil Falls, El Capitan and Mariposa giant sequoia grove.

Day 12, Fri., Sept. 24 – Barstow, CA – Morning journey to Sequoia National Park, with 38 groves of giant sequoia.  These largest trees on Earth can grow more than 300 ft. high (length of a football field) and can live more than 3000 years.  Overnight in Barstow.

Day 13, Sat., Sept. 25 – Las Vegas – Morning drive across Mojave Desert into Nevada.  Guided tour of Hoover Dam.  Afternoon and night at leisure in Las Vegas. 

Day 14, Sun., Sept. 26 – Flagstaff, AZ – Across Northwest Arizona to the south rim of Grand Canyon for a four hour visit. On to Flagstaff for overnight.

Day 15, Mon., Sept. 27 – Albuquerque, N.M – Visit Petrified Forest and Painted Desert National Park.  Into New Mexico and if time permits, visit Acoma Pueblo (Sky City), America’s oldest inhabited village.  Visit Old Town Albuquerque.

Day 16, Tues., Sept. 28 – Wichita Falls, TX–Travel day through Amarillo to Wichita Falls.

Day 17, Wed., Sept. 29 - Home – Travel through Dallas, Shreveport and on home.
