Itinerary

 

Day 1, Mon., May 21– Abilene, TexasEarly morning departure from Zachary and Baton Rouge.  Pick-ups along I-10 to Lafayette, I-49 to

Shreveport, I-20 through Dallas to Abilene for overnight.

 

Day 2, Tues., May 22– Albuquerque, New Mexico Journey through Lubbock and Clovis to Ft. Sumner, N.M. Visit the grave of Billy the Kid, then on to Albuquerque where we visit “Old Town”, a restored area from the 1700’s which is home to many quaint shops and restaurants.

Overnight in Albuquerque. 

 

 Day 3, Wed., May 23 – Flagstaff, Arizona We cross into Arizona and stop at a natural wonder, the Petrified Forest National Park,

 one of the most spectacular displays of petrified wood in the world.  Visit the colorful area known as the Painted Desert.

 Overnight at Flagstaff.

 

 Day 4, Thurs., May 24 – Grand CanyonMorning visit to Oak Creek Canyon, known for spectacular colors, and the red rock resort of

 Sedona, setting for many movies.  Then to the highlight of our trip – the Grand Canyon, the most beautiful and spectacular canyon in the

 world.  Its 10 miles wide and a mile deep: the awesome panorama will leave you speechless with sheer wonder.  We will explore

 the Southern Rim. 

 

 Day 5, Fri., May 25 – Page, Arizona We will enjoy the IMAX theater presentation of the Grand Canyon.  More touring along the Grand

 Canyon’s rim, enjoying its scenic beauty.  Cruise on Lake Powell and the spectacular Antelope Canyon.  Overnight in Page.

 

 Day 6, Sat., May 26 – Kanab, Utah –Morning visit to Marble Canyon and the Navajo Bridge.  See the colorful Vermilion Cliffs.  We

 visit the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.   Overnight in Kanab, our home for two nights.

 

 Day 7, Sun., May 27 – Kanab Enjoy a beautiful drive to Zion Canyon National Park to see sheer cliffs, huge rock formations and

 mountains.  Many consider Zion the best of the national parks.  Afternoon visit to Bryce Canyon National Park and see the spectacular

 landscape of spires and pinnacles.

 

 Day 8, Mon., May 28 – Farmington,  New MexicoMorning viewing of beautiful Lake Powell and Glen Canyon Dam.  We visit

 Monument Valley where we see spectacular nature – spectacular formations – isolated monoliths of red sandstone towering as much as

 1,000 feet above the valley floor.  Through unusual landscape to Four Corners, the only place in the country where four states meet. 

 Plenty of Indian wares for sale.  View Shiprock, which stands 1700 feet above the desert, on the way to Farmington.

 

 Day 9, Tues., May 29 – Santa RosaWe enjoy several hours mid-day in fabulous Santa Fe, one of the most unusual and interesting places

 in the U.S.  We will have a guided tour.  Overnight in Santa Rosa, NM.

 

 Day 10, Wed., May 30 -  Wichita Falls, Texas  We stop in the Amarillo area for a visit to the Grand Canyon of Texas – Palo   Duro Canyon, with its interesting history.  Overnight in Wichita Falls.

 

 Day 11, Thurs., May 31 – Home – Motor coach through Dallas and Shreveport to Baton Rouge.
