GRAPEVINE, TEXAS is located between Dallas and Ft. Worth just north of the airport. It is upscale today, but is older than Dallas and Ft. Worth. Its historic district has been preserved and maintained in excellent fashion. Opportunities for entertainment, eating and shopping are all contained in easy walking distance. Historic Grapevine is considered the Christmas Capitol of Texas with millions of brilliant lights, etc.
GAYLORD TEXAN HOTEL RESORT is a fabulous place to stay. Smaller and easier to get around in than the big sister hotel in Nashville, but even more impressive. The Gaylord Texan decorated for Christmas is alone worth making the trip.
Itinerary
Day 1, Monday, Nov. 26_– Grapevine – Early departure from Zachary / Baton Rouge with pick-ups in Lafayette, Alexandria,
Shreveport enroute to Dallas and Grapevine. Midafternoon arrival in Grapevine and check-in at our wonderful resort hotel –
The Gaylord Texan. Late afternoon guided tour of historic Grapevine. Time to enjoy millions of lights and decorations.
Day 2, Tuesday, Nov. 27 – Grapevine - Included breakfast at our hotel. Leisure morning to explore our resort. 10:00 a.m.
departure from our hotel for Ft. Worth Stockyards. Upon arrival watch a 12 minute film about Fort Worth. At 11:30 a.m.
enjoy the famous Stockyards Cattle Drive. Lunch on your own (several places – Joe Garcia for Mexican). Time to browse
the shops, the Stockyard Museum and enjoy Christmas activities along Exchange Street. Mid-afternoon arrival back in Grapevine
for shopping at the wonderful Grapevine Mills Mall. Later, at our resort hotel, enjoy the decorations and the amazing
ICE Exhibit (included). The illustrious ICE Exhibit, an extraordinary and magical display of elaborate life-sized ice sculptures
with dramatic lighting effect – all created from nearly 2 million pounds of ice!
Day 3, Wednesday, Nov. 28 – Enjoy the resort this morning. We depart at 10:00 a.m. for home. In downtown Dallas we
make a brief visit to Pioneer Park and the place where President Kennedy was assassinated. Included lunch today on our
journey home.
