Day 1, Mon., May 7 – Bowling Green, KY – Pickups in Zachary, Baton Rouge, Hammond, Brookhaven & Jackson.   Overnight at Drury Inn, Bowling Green, KY.

Day 2, Tues., May 8 – Shipshewana, IN – Journey through Indiana to the beautiful Amish area.  See horse drawn buggies. Overnight at Farmstead Inn in Shipshewana, center of the Amish area. 

Day 3, Wed., May 9 – Holland, MI Spend the day in Shipshewana on their big day of the week – Antique & Livestock Auction and Flea Market.   Many Amish horse and buggies.   Overnight in Holland, MI.

Day 4, Thurs., May 10 – Frankenmuth, MIIt’s tulip time in Michigan.  Today we enjoy the famous Holland Tulip Festival.  Morning guided tour of Holland and its beautiful tulips.   During mid-May millions of blooming tulips in the parks and neighborhoods provide a spectacular floral display.   We visit Velddeer Tulip Gardens, ablaze with acres of tulips. At 2:00 p.m. we attend the colorful Kinderparade of over 7,000 children in Dutch costumes.  In late afternoon we make our way to the German village of Frankenmuth, Michigan’s little Bavaria for overnight.

Day 5, Fri., May 11 – Mackinaw Crossing, Michigan –Morning in Frankenmuth.  Shop at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, (the world’s largest Christmas store).   Afternoon  drive north to Mackinaw Crossings.

Day 6, Sat., May 12– Mackinac Island at the Grand Hotel –We have about 24 hrs. to enjoy this island and it’s Grand Hotel. The island retains the atmosphere of the 19th century.  No automobiles are allowed on the island and transportation is by horse and carriage or bicycle. We have a carriage tour and overnight at the fabulous Grand Hotel with a 5-course dinner and a full breakfast included.  Grand Hotel -  “Truly, there is little in this world that can surpass that first breathtaking glimpse of  the Grand Hotel as the carriage approaches to reveal it perched upon the bluff, its 660- foot porch (the world’s largest) bedecked with flags.”   The hotel was built in 1887.  It has 385 guest rooms and no two are decorated the same.   Filmed here in 1949 was “This Time for Keeps” with Esther Williams, and  “Somewhere in Time” with Christopher Reeves, Jane Seymour & Christopher Plummer in 1979. 

Day 7, Sun., May 13 – Oshkosh, WI –After wonderful breakfast at the Grand Hotel we take horse taxis down to the docks and ferry over to the mainland to our motor coach.  We journey across the scenic Upper Peninsula of Michigan (north of Lake Michigan) and into Wisconsin.  Briefly visit Green Bay, overnight in Oshkosh.

Day 8, Mon., May 14 – Rockford, IL–Morning visit to the unbelievable “House on the Rock” - nothing in the world is like it.   A world of intricate collections.

Day 9, Tues., May 15 - Springfield, IL – Morning guided tour Chicago.   We will see some of the tallest buildings in the world, drive along the lake for an exquisite view of the dynamic skyline.   To Springfeld, IL for overnight.

Day 10, Wed., May 16– Sikeston, MO – Abraham Lincoln lived in Springfield for 24 years.  Morning visit to his home, a National Historic Site.  Also visit his museum and tomb.   Afternoon visit to St. Louis Arch – Gateway to the West.   Time to go up the Arch, enjoy the museum and shop.  Overnight in Sikeston, MO.

Day 11, Thurs., May 17 – Home – Early departure for home.
