Featuring Canada's Agawa Canyon Autumn Foliage Train
A full-day narrated scenic rail excursion through beautiful Agawa Canyon. This all day adventure takes us past massive rock formations, through thick forests of maple and birch and over pristine streams and lakes. We explore the Agawa River and its waterfalls on the valley floor. (PASSPORT or PASSPORT CARD REQUIRED)
Day 1, Sun., Sept. 30 – Bowling Green, KY – Depart Zachary with
pick-ups in Baton Rouge, Denham Springs, Hammond. Overnight
in Bowling Green, KY area.
Day 2, Mon., Oct. 1 – Toledo, Ohio area – Travel day through Kentucky and Ohio to Toledo area for overnight.
Day 3, Tues., Oct. 2 – Frankenmuth, Michigan – Mid-day visit to the renowned Ford Museum (focus on U.S. history and life for the last 100 years.) On to Frankenmuth, a German village known as Michigan’s “Little Bavaria”.
Day 4, Wed., Oct. 3 – Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan –Visit and shop at Bronner’s Christmas Wonderland, the world’s largest Christmas store. Then on to Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan for 2 nights.
Day 5, Thurs., Oct. 4 – Sault Ste. Marie - Motor coach into Canada for our all day Fall Foliage Train excursion into beautiful Agawa Canyon.

Day 6, Fri., Oct. 5 – Mackinac Island at the Grand Hotel – We have about 24 hrs. to enjoy this island and the Grand Hotel. The island retains the atmosphere of the 19th century. No automobiles are allowed on the island and transportation is by horse and carriage or bicycle. We have a carriage tour and overnight at the fabulous Grand Hotel with a 5-course dinner and a full breakfast included.
The Grand Hotel - “Truly, there is little in this world that can surpass that first breathtaking glimpse of the Grand Hotel as the carriage approaches to reveal it perched upon the bluff, its 660- foot porch (the world’s largest) bedecked with flags.” The hotel was built in 1887. It has 385 guest rooms and no two are decorated the same. Filmed here in 1949 was “This Time for Keeps” with Esther Williams, and “Somewhere in Time” with Christopher Reeves, Jane Seymour & Christopher Plummer in 1979.
Day 7, Sat., Oct. 6 – Kalamazoo, Michigan – After a wonderful breakfast at the Grand Hotel time to attend a local church service or on your own - then take horse taxis down to the docks and ferry over to the mainland to our motor coach. We journey south to towards Kalamazoo for sightseeing and overnight.
Day 8, Sun., Oct. 7 – Indianapolis, IN – Travel to Indiana for sightseeing and shopping in the Amish area (Shipshewana) then over to Notre Dame for a brief tour of this great university. Overnight in the Indianapolis area.
Day 9, Mon., Oct. 8 – Franklin, TN – Journey through Louisville to the Franklin area for overnight.
Day 10, Tues., Oct. 9 – Home today by early evening.
