Day 1, Fri., May 18 – Depart from Houston (or other home airports - may require earlier departure and cost will increase) – we’ll fly together from Houston to China.
Day 2, Sat., May 19 – Beijing, China – Fly to Beijing – on arrival transfer to our deluxe hotel. Enjoy the remainder of
the day as you please.
Day 3, Sun., May 20- Beijing – After breakfast, a full day guided sightseeing tour of Beijing, China’s capital city. Admire the mysterious Forbidden City and palace, where China’s emperors lived for over 500 years. Visit Tiananmen Square, the world’s largest. See ornamental bridges and pagodas of the Summer Palace. Take pictures of the 2008
Olympic buildings. 3 meals included today.
Day 4, Mon., May 21 - Beijing – Great Wall – Today we visit one of the wonders of the world, the Great Wall. After our included lunch we visit the Ming Tombs and stunning stone statues.
Day 5, Tues., May 22 - Xian – More Beijing touring in the morning. Visit the beautiful Temple of Heaven. Afternoon flights to Xian, capital of ancient China. Breakfast and dinner included today.
Day 6, Wed., May 23 – Xian – We visit Terra Cotta Warriors, the more than 6,000 life-size clay warriors and horses which had been buried for more than 2000 years, until discovered a few years ago. Included lunch at local restaurant. Then visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. This evening enjoy a Tang Dynasty folklore show with included dinner.
Day 7, Thurs., May 24 - Guilin – Today fly from Xian to spectacular Guilin where we enjoy two nights.
Day 8, Fri., May 25 - Guilin – Enjoy some of China’s most enchanting scenery and cruise on Guilin’s Li River. Our route winds through fairytale-like peaks as we see verdant rice fields and wooden fishing boats. Some fisherman use cormorants to dive for fish. Visit the charming town of Yangshuo.
Day 9, Sat., May 26 – Guilin / Shanghai – Morning visit to Reed Flute Cave, an ancient limestone chamber famous for its stalactites, stalagmites and age-old wall inscriptions. Afterward fly to Shanghai, China’s commercial capital.
Day 10, Sun., May 27 - Shanghai – Today discover the best of this intoxicating city with our guided tour that takes in the elegant buildings of the Bund along the Huangpu River, the bustling Nanjing Road and time at the Shanghai Museum. Our day concludes with dinner and a thrilling Chinese acrobatic show.
Day 11, Mon., May 28 - Shanghai – Free day with much to choose from – shopping, or an optional half-day excursion to Suzhou (known as the Venice of the East for its canals and gardens) Here you might visit UNESCO listed Master of theNets Garden, ride a boat along the picturesque Grand Canal and visit a silk factory – highly recommended.
Day 12, Tues., May 29 – Today we fly home, arriving same day.
