Itinerary & Registration
Lisbon, Fatima, Seville, Cordoba, Gibraltar, Costa del Sol, Granada, the capital of Madrid plus Toledo and Tangier (Morocco)
Day 1, Thurs., Apr. 20 – Leave Baton Rouge or other home airports for overnight flight to Lisbon.
Day 2, Fri., Apr. 21 – Lisbon, Portugal – Arrive in Lisbon, Portugal’s historic capital. City sightseeing before our late afternoon hotel check in. See Belem Tower, Moorish citadel, BlackHorse Square. Enjoy the tile-decorated streets of Alfama. See the 16th century Jeronimo’s Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Day 3, Sat., Apr. 22 - Lisbon – Today journey in to the surrounding countryside to visit some of Portugal’s most colorful and picturesque towns. Visit the religious site of Fatima. Enjoy included lunch at coastal Nazare. Visit historic Obidas.
Day 4, Sun., Apr. 23 – Seville, Spain – Today travel by motor coach through scenic Portugal and into Andalusion Spain. We have two nights in Seville.
Day 5, Mon., Apr. 24 - Seville – Morning city tour includes the cathedral, the world’s largest gothic edifice, a UNESCO site
Housing Columbus’ tomb; pictures at La Giralda tower. Visit to National Tile Museum. A brief walking tour of the quaint old
Santa Cruz Quarter. Afternoon short drive to visit captivating Moorish city of Cordoba, a UNESCO World Heritage Historic Center. Visit the architectural treasure – the 8th century mosque of Mezquita.
Day 6, Tues., Apr. 25 – Costa de Sol, Spain – Morning drive to see the Straits of Gibraltar. Tonight enjoy included dinner.
Day 7, Wed., Apr. 26 – Costa de Sol, Spain – Full day excursion to North Africa. By boat across the Strait of Gibralter to historic Tangier, Morocco for guided sightseeing and included lunch.
Day 8, Thurs., Apr. 27 – Granada – Drive along the beautiful resort coast of southern Spain, then into the peaceful Sierra Nevada mountains to Granada, the last great capital of the Moors in Spain before it fell in 1492. This afternoon with a local guide we tour the
world-famous Alhambra, the immense hilltop palace that is a UNESCO site. Also tour the Generalife (meaning “garden of the architect”), where the grounds are beautiful.
Day 9, Fri., Apr. 28 – Toledo/Madrid – Morning travel north through Spain’s amazing landscape with picturesque olive groves. Stop in ancient Toledo, a UNESCO site and the capital of medieval Spain until 1560. Our tour includes the magnificent Gothic cathedral, the 13th century synagogue and the church of Santo Tome to view El Greco’s masterpiece painting – The Burial of Count Orgaz. On to Madrid, Spain’s capital and largest city.
Day 10, Sat., Apr. 29 - Madrid – Full day sightseeing. Visit Prado museum, one of the greatest art galleries in the world, including El Greco and Goya. Visit the Royal Palace and more.
Day 11, Sun., Apr. 30 – Morning flight to USA, arriving home the same day.
