Itinerary & Registration
Day 1, Sun., July 1 – Pauls Valley, Oklahoma – Motor coach from Zachary and Baton Rouge with pick-ups along the way. Overnight at Paul’s Valley near Oklahoma City.
Day 2, Mon., July 2 – McCook, Nebraska – Visit Oklahoma City’s National Memorial. Journey into Kansas and visit Dodge City, known worldwide as the “Cowboy Capital of the World” and home to Boot Hill.
Day 3, Tues., July 3 – Rapid City, South Dakota – Bus through Western Nebraska, crossing the paths of the 19th century wagon trains going west and through the National Grassland prairies of Nebraska. We visit Badlands National Park and the famous Wall Drug Store. Overnight in Rapid City.
Day 4, Wed., July 4 – Sheridan, Wyoming – Morning in the beautiful “Black Hills” of South Dakota, the highest mountains east of the Rocky Mountains. We visit Mt. Rushmore which depicts four great American presidents – Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt. Then visit Crazy Horse Monument. Also visit Devils Tower National
Monument. Overnight in Sheridan.
Day 5, Thurs., July 5 – Yellowstone area – West Yellowstone - Through beautiful Bighorn Mountains to Cody, Wyoming, then on to Yellowstone. See Yellowstone Lake, the largest lake in America above 7,000 feet. Explore the highlights of Yellowstone. See wild animals, picturesque scenery, and bubbling, hissing, colorful mud pots. See many geysers, the best known being Old Faithful which erupts approximately every hour. View the spectacular “Grand Canyon of the
Yellowstone” and visit the 310 feet Lower Falls, twice the height of Niagara Falls.
Day 6, Fri., July 6 – Grand Tetons – Morning visit to Old Faithful and more. Afternoon visit to Grand Teton National Park. Enjoy spectacular views of some of the grandest mountains in the world., the Grand Teton Mountain Range, with its saw-toothed 13,5000 foot high ridges crested with snow. Overnight in Jackson, Wyoming.
Day 7, Sat., July 7 – Steamboat Springs, CO – We journey south to Rock Springs, WY and then into Colorado. Overnight in the ski center of Steamboat Springs.
Day 8, Sun., July 8 – Colorado Springs, CO – Morning crossing of Rabbit Ears Pass and then follow the splendid Trail Ridge Road of Rocky Mountain National Park, over the tops of mighty mountain ranges. Enjoy magnificent views of canyons, rivers and valleys thousands of feet below. After crossing the Continental Divide we descend to Estes Park for a brief visit. Through Denver to Colorado Springs for overnight.
Day 9, Mon., July 9 – Wichita Falls, TX – We drive south to Raton Pass and into the Northeast corner of New Mexico. Then into Texas, through Amarillo and on to Wichita Falls, Texas for overnight.
Day 10, Tues., July 10 – Home – We journey to Dallas and then on to Shreveport, Alexandria, Lafayette Baton Rouge and Zachary arriving home with many wonderful memories of a truly spectacular tour.
