See Yellowstone in a whole new way...

Winter in Yellowstone means fewer crowds, frigid temperatures, and steaming geyser basins. Skis, snowshoes, snow-coaches, and snowmobiles become the primary modes of transportation as roads close, rivers and lakes freeze, and snowstorms transform the park into a winter wonderland!

Your Itinerary

Day 1 – Sat., Jan. 27 - Salt Lake City – Our winter adventure begins with a morning flight to Salt Lake City. Start by sightseeing in this Olympic City including all the highlights. Check into a downtown hotel, and enjoy a welcome dinner.

Day 2 – Sun., Jan. 28 - Mormon Tabernacle Choir – West Yellowstone - A once-in- a-lifetime opportunity awaits us this morning! Seating has been arranged for us at Temple Square, where we will have a chance to hear the world-famous Mormon Tabernacle Choir's weekly broadcast performance. (Choir’s schedule permitting). Then we’ll depart the Wasatch Mountains and drive north past the Great Salt Lake, Hill Air Force Base, and Utah's first settlement, Ogden. Soon we will enter Idaho and travel through the potato-producing fields. Continue north to the Island Park Region which is world- famous for trout fishing on the Madison and Henry’s Fork Rivers. After going over Targhee Pass we enter Montana and the town of West Yellowstone, the western gate of our nation's first national park.

Day 3 – Mon., Jan. 29 - Yellowstone by Snowcoach –Today discover Yellowstone National Park, America's oldest and most famous national park, via private chartered snowcoaches. The heated snowcoaches provide a clear view, moving easily across the snow while listening to the insights of an experienced Yellowstone guide. Visit famous Yellowstone landmarks including Firehole Falls, Fountain Paint Pots and witness Old Faithful’s dramatic display (the world’s most famous geyser.) After lunch, return to West Yellowstone with the evening free to explore and have dinner on your own.

Day 4 – Tuesday, Jan. 30 - Elk Refuge – Jackson - This morning, we motorcoach for a picturesque drive to Jackson and the spectacular scenery of Grand Teton National Park. Enjoy a beautiful winter day at the base of the rugged Teton Mountains as we stop for lunch on own. Next we are in for a fantastic winter experience. Just a couple miles north of Jackson is the National Elk Refuge, winter home for thousands of these majestic animals. We get a close-up view as we take a horse drawn sleigh ride right into the massive heard on the Elk Refuge. Our sleigh driver and guide will explain how the settling the Jackson Valley affected the elk herd winter migration and why the refuge now plays an important role in their survival. We also visit the National Museum of Wildlife Art, with collections of nearly twenty-three hundred works of wildlife art. Overnight in Jackson with group dinner at a local restaurant.

Day 5 – Wednesday. Jan. 31 - Olympic Park – Salt Lake City - Depart Jackson this morning and travel through western Wyoming surrounded by silver streams, soaring peaks, and lush meadows. Drive through the rugged Snake River Canyon, stopping in pastoral Starr Valley. Arrive in Evanston for lunch on own, then travel to Utah Olympic Park near Park City. Enjoy a guided tour of this amazing facility that hosted events for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games and continues to host World Cup events. Many of the guides are winter Olympians in training. We will see the Utah Ski and Olympic Museum, three Nordic Jumps along with the Bobsled and Luge Track, which has some of the fastest ice on earth. Return to Salt Lake City for one final night. This evening we enjoy a farewell dinner.

Day 6 – Thursday. Feb. 1 - Journey Home - Transfer to the Salt Lake Airport for our flight home. As you travel home, remember all the wonderful memories and friends you have met on your fabulous Yellowstone in Winter vacation!
