- Day 1 - Friday, March 8 - Natchitoches – Morning departure from Zachary and Baton Rouge, routing through Lafayette. After we arrive in Natchitoches, we'll enjoy a tour of the beautiful Minor Basilica Of The Immaculate Conception, built in 1787 and at one time the cathedral for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Natchitoches. After lunch on your own along the river walk, we'll meet at Kaffie Frederick General Mercantile Store, for a fascinating tour to learn about the history of the store that's the oldest general store in Louisiana. After we check into our downtown hotel, you have free time on your own for shopping along Front St., and dinner at one of several options. Overnight at the charming Chateau Saint Denis hotel.
Day 2 - Saturday, March 9 - Natchitoches – After an included breakfast at the hotel, enjoy Bloomin' on the Bricks and Art on the Bricks along Front St. and the Downtown Riverbank. The spring garden festival will feature specialized plants for purchase and decorative materials like iron work and yard art. You can also enjoy an outdoor art show, sponsored by the Natchitoches Art Guild & Gallery. Musical entertainment will be offered on the Riverbank Stage. This afternoon, we'll take a leisurely cruise aboard the Cane River Queen. Learn about the history of Natchitoches while meandering along the tranquil waters of Cane River Lake. This evening, enjoy an included dinner at Maglieaux's Riverfront Restaurant. Overnight at Chateau Saint Denis.
Day 3 - Sunday, March 10 - Home – After an included breakfast, we make our way to Oakland Plantation, which dates back to 1785 and is a National Historic Landmark. Learn how this plantation, which survived well into the 1930s, was built on cotton and slave labor and later by tenant farmers and sharecroppers. After we enjoy an included box lunch at the plantation, we'll stop at the famous Lea's Lunchroom in LeCompte, LA for a treat before we arrive home this afternoon.
